06/19/08 | Updates
I've been updating some things on the website. You'll notice some new photos taken by the fantastic Emrâ Islek. I recently took part in her most recent project in which she photographs jazz musicians with a Camera Obscura. It was an interesting and fun experience. She was also able to snap a few promo shots. I've included a link to her website at the bottom of this entry and on the Links page.

Also new to the site is another video. In November of 2004, I had the absolute pleasure of playing a gig with the Dave Holland Big Band at the TIM Festival in Sao Paulo Brasil. On my Video page, you'll find a clip from that concert.

Happy New Year to all! I've posted 2 new tunes on the 'Listen' page: another performance from last year's gig at the Kitchen Bar in Brooklyn, and a tune from the Quartet's Midwest tour in October.

Speaking of the midwest, I'll be back in Lincoln, NE on February 15 with one of my most favorite bands in the history of music--The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. If you're in the area, come to the show!

I've added a "Video" section to the site. On it now, you'll find a clip from a concert I did earlier this year in Germany with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band.

Also, check the link below (or go to http://michalevy.com/one) to see a fantastic new piece of animation by Michal Levy. I had the pleasure of being on the recording of the music to which the animation is set. The composition, "Suheir," is by Jason Lindner and is performed by his wonderful big band.

10/23/07 | Thanks--we had a blast!
On behalf of the band, thanks to everybody who helped make the first tour of the Frank Basile Quartet a success. We played for some wonderful audiences in the Midwest, and I hope you had as good of a time at the gigs as we did. I'm looking forward to the next time I get to take the band out on the road. I've updated my "Photos" page with some shots of the band (by Scott Ehrisman) at a great club in Sioux Falls, South Dakota called A Touch of Europe. Not only was it a great place to play, but I the food was amazing. I had the best duck there that I've ever had anywhere. I hope to track down more photos from the tour, so check back.

09/12/07 | FB Quartet comes to the Midwest in October
I'll be bringing Adam Birnbaum, Mike Blanco, and Mark Ferber from New York out to the Midwest with me for some gigs and school clinics next month. We'll be playing music from our latest CD, "Thursday the 12th," as well as other material. Check my Itinerary page for details. If you're in the area, we'd love to see you make it to some of the gigs.

I've updated the "Listen" page with two new clips. One from a trio gig in Brooklyn this past April and one from a tour I did in May with the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band.
